Job description:  
The Educational Outreach position in the Local History Services Department is responsible for managing the strategic direction and day to day operations of the History to Go Van outreach program. This position will work in collaboration with the department’s community engagement efforts and seek to use History to Go and other outreach programming to build relations with a variety of Ohio communities including underserved audiences, educational institutions, and other unique engagements around the state as opportunities open. This position requires overnight travel both in-state and out of state.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Lead strategic direction and day to day operations of the History to Go Van programs
• Create and manage a volunteer program to assist in presenting History to Go Van programs
• Develop and implement engaging and innovative humanities-based activities, lessons, and programs, including, but not limited to: curriculum; lesson plans; historical thinking activities; workshops; field trips; distance learning programs; etc.
• Manage budgets
• Assist other members of the Outreach Division to identify potential grant opportunities and write grants.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment on multiple projects
• Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
Requires a Bachelor's degree in the appropriate field from an accredited university or equivalent work experience plus a minimum of one to three years’ experience in museum education, with social studies educators and/or in the social studies classroom. Experience in presenting required. Experience in grant writing and community engagement preferred.
Skills:  
Knowledge:
An understanding of Ohio’s educational landscape, including educational standards is required.

Computer skills including Microsoft Office suite, Adobe Photoshop, website design and maintenance a plus.

Reasoning Ability:
A self-starter. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, pay attention to detail, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines.

Work Environment
Approximately 50% of the work is in an office environment, while the remainder is travel to present programming; travel is required both in Ohio and out of state. Will include evenings, weekends, and overnights.
